Breeders’ Crown November 11 at Eskilstuna
The elite series for youngsters!
Breeders' Crown finals are the last races of the year in Sweden Major Races series. This is a series of races for 3 and 4 year old horses that have been ongoing throughout the whole year 2018. Eliminations are being held at Solvalla. The finals take place at Eskilstuna racetrack. There are four final races, 3-year-old colts and geldings and 3-year-old fillies, 4-year-old colts and geldings and finally 4-year-old fillies. The total purse in each final is SEK 1,7 million.
The concept of Breeders Crown is inspired from the United States and first came to Sweden in 1991. It is a unique competition series that involves the entire trot industry, meaning breeders, stallion owners and Swedish Horseracing. The stallion owners lay the ground for the series by paying a fee that gives all their colts the right to participate in Breeders’ Crown 4-year-olds races. It is the stallion owners that make it possible to keep such a high level in the elite series for youngsters.
In addition to great honor and prestige to win the Breeders' Crown, this is where the stars begin their carrier and it is a lot of money to compete for. Big stars like Nuncio, Victory Tilly, Ina Scot, Copiad, Lovely Godiva and From Above have all won the Breeders' Crown.
