Olympiatravet, April 28 at Åby RaceTrack
A Major Race with the next Olympian legends!
The grand finale of Olympiatravet is a real festival, which takes place April 28 at Åby racetrack in Göteborg. Every year 15.000 people gather to watch some of the best horses in the world compete in Olympiatravet. The race does not only attract great horses but also real Olympians. Since the race is a long-term collaboration between ATG, the Swedish Olympic Committee and Swedish Paralympic Committee you can often find some of Sweden’s best Olympians among the audience. The very first race was run in 1979 and bets on races have since that contributed to the Swedish Olympians and Paralympians with a total of SEK 229 million.
The final race at Olympiatravet is a Group I International race and measures 2140m with 10 horses starting. The horses in the race are a mix of qualified and invited horses. Last year’s winner Lionel is directly qualified for this year’s final. Åby’s track with double open stretches gives the final an extra twist. First prize to the winner in the final is SEK 1.5 million. Among the winners of Olympiatravet you can find legends like Queen L., Varenne and Maharajah.
