V75®: Ready for a midsummer win

The tradition with V75® in Kalmar during midsummer continues.
And as many times before Fredrik Persson has his horses ready.
This time his new star Ultra Bright is in focus - in Persson's old star Viola Silas race on Sunday.

One of many big races this midsummer weekend at Kalmar is Viola Silas race which will go as V75®-4 on Sunday. It's a race for the open mares. A very good race where many of them can win.
Last year's Stochampionatet champion Ultra Bright will make her fourth start of the year. Fredrik Persson is hoping that he's got her in perfect form for this weekend and he sounds very pleased with his mare.
"It turned out to be a race with many good mares, but I still think she deserves to be the favorite. She's the one with the best results so far this year. But I do have a lot of respect for the opponents".
The race is named after Persson's big star Viola Silas.
The today twelve year old mare Viola Silas dominated her crop and won both Drottningens pokal (The Queens Trophy) and Sprinterstoet. In 2010 she was the one to beat in Stochampionatet and both the mare and the driver handled the pressure without any problem. Last year he was the underdog with Ultra Bright.
"Viola is stabled at Menhammar Stuteri and she's doing great" says Persson.
Viola Silas came down with her fourth foal this past April, a filly by Uncle Lasse. She's now in foal again - to Propulsion.
"It would be a bonus and a lot of fun if I could win the race named after her for the first time. When you look for races. you always try to have a plan and find what's best for your horse and this came perfect in time and it's on our home track too" says Fredrik Persson.

Ready for midsummer
The trainer from the village Fågelmara usually does well this weekend. The races during the midsummer weekend usually draw a big crowd. Kalmarsundspokalen (gold division) including Elitlopp horses Volstead and Pastore Bob, is another one of the features.
"Of course we try to have the horses ready for this weekend and we've done well over the years".
Ultra Bright won Stochampionatet coming from behind but is very quick behind the gate and she's undefeated on the front. What's your plan?
"There are a couple fast mares inside of us but she's very fast. So...yes I think she will get to the front".
At the Elitlopp weekend she took the lead in the mares elite, Lady Snärt's race. But then you let Alessandro Gocciadoro go with Peace Of Mind.
"She left well and I wanted to drive her on the front but that yellow driver was unstoppable that weekend so when he came I let him go. She finished third and felt great. I made a mistake and tried to get out behind another horse in the last turn when the pace was really high. When I grabbed in to her she lost 10-15 meters and then she couldn't make up for that".
Double Exposure won that race in a new stakes record, 1:09.6. Ultra Bright trotted 1:10.0. Is it the sprint or the 2,000 meters that is her best 'event'?
"Both are fine for her. She crossed the wire with a good bounce in her step and she definitely needs to be on the V75 ticket this week. She'll race with the same equipment as in her last start".
You have one more horse racing on V75. Caliber T.T. (V75-1) has reached the age of eleven and took the first win of the season in his last start, a so called P 21 race for horses who are low on points. Your thoughts on him?
"He races since it's at home. If he can make money I'm happy".
