V75®/super jackpot: Haugstad optimistic but puts out a warning

He thinks the horse he drives himself has the best chance but puts out a warning for his stablemate who could surprise a lot of bettors.
"Aleppo Pine is the best chance but Aria was fantastic in her last start and could get out of the gate ahead of us" says Kenneth Haugstad about the E3 final at Gävle this Saturday.

E3 has throughout the year been full of surprises and if you want to be sole winner on Saturday's V75® and take home SEK 63 million super jackpot, you need to find those surprise winners. These E3 finals are called the short E3, they are held over 1,640 meters and the probable favorite in the filly division (V75-6) is Joakim Lövgren trained Zara Kronos. She surprised many when she won the long E3 final back in June and she also won her elimination last week impressively in the lead. But three year old fillies tend to be unpredictable and in this race, we haven't seen a favorite win for the last eight years.
"Joakim has a very nice horse and it will be tough to get past her from the start, but Aleppo Pine is very fast out of the gate if you fire her off and we have a perfect post position. We are where we should be and I have to be optimistic" says Kenneth Haugstad who got three fillies in to the final for his employer Roger Walmann.
"Aleppo Pine was very good in her elimination. She had to do all the hard work three wide for the last 800 meters. Despite that she won comfortably in a very good way".
This three year old top filly has won six out of her eight lifetime starts. In the E3 final in June she made a break as the favorite and after that she has won two in a row.
"The track was hard that day and we pulled her shoes so it didn't work out that time. She will race with shoes again, like she did in her last start".
How optimistic are you?
"With a horse who's only lost twice you have to be optimistic and i didn't become any less optimistic after her effort in the elimination. I think she can trot quite a bit faster that what she did then and if she's as good this week, we're for sure top three. Then as always with three year olds they're day to day, but I know I have a good filly".

Comes in great form
Despite Aleppo Pine making a break in long E3 final, Walmann stable almost got the win anyway as Flash Am put up a heroic effort and finished second. But she hasn't been as good after that that final and in last week's eliminations she made it to the final after finishing fourth in her heat.
"She has raced with shoes in both her last two starts following that final and that could be the reason. She will race barefoot now and I think that will make her quicker. Ability wise we know she's good enough but the post position is a downer. It will be tough for her from post eight" says Kenneth Haugstad who actually believes the third horse, Aria, from Walmann stable has a better chance to jump up and surprise".
She did already in the elimination when she came flying down the stretch to finish second despite starting from 'the impossible' post twelve.
"We've kind of been waiting on her for a while and she's been getting better and better. She's very speedy and she finished very fast last week" says Haugstad and continues:
"Everything is well in training after that and she comes in to this race in great form. We chose to be on the gate as she can leave very fast and I think she'll get a good position. She could even get out ahead of Aleppo Pine, that's how quick she is".
So what's you advice to jackpot chasing V75 bettors?
"Post one through three, Zara Kronos, Aleppo Pine and Staro Miami are the three best fillies on paper, but Aria is right behind them".

"They must be good to beat him"
Team Walmann also has a good chance to win the last V75 race. Urban Kronos has been great all year and was very impressive when he crushed his opponents in his last start despite racing outside the leader.
"He's been fantastic and just gotten better and better with every start. He was just vicious in his last start. I never thought he could win that race on the outside like that but he did and he felt perfect training the other day. This time he'll race barefoot and even though it's his first time in the silver division, they have to be good to beat him if he's as good as he was in his last start".
