Oslo Grand Prix/V75® (Sunday): "He is in top form!"
He skipped the Elitlopp weekend and instead aimed for the Oslo Grand Prix.
This Sunday, an Önas Prince in top form goes out in Norway's biggest race.
"I just trained him and he's in top form!" says the trainer, Per Nordström.
Last summer, Önas Prince won the Ulf Thoresen Grand International at Jarlsberg racetrack. He now returns to Norway, chasing yet another major title. He trained on Tuesday morning, and Per Nordström was pleased with his horse.
"He's in top form! His last start was easy on him and mentally beneficial; he felt good about himself. He was fourth in the Paralympic Trot in the start prior, and before that, he got a tough trip outside A Fair Day, so it was perfect to have an easier race to get the self confidence on top for Sunday, both for the horse and the driver," says Per Nordström.
Pleased with starting in the second tier
The post position draw determined that Önas Prince starts from post ten, in the second tier behind the gate. Not a dream post, it seems, but Per Nordström does not feel beaten down.
"No big deal. This horse gets the job done from any position, and post ten is much better than seven or eight. He starts behind Betting Pacer, so we will see what I do and what happens. But he races very well from behind, too. It's just that with the gate speed he has, he has gotten the lead pretty much every time."
