V75: All set for double victory celebrations

Both come off impressive wins and start from good post positions.
Maria Törnqvist makes the trip to Kalmar with two hot winning candidates in V75.

It takes around five hours from Nossebro to Kalmar. Maria Törnqvist and her boyfriend, Dwight Pieters, who is also the regular driver for the stable, make the trip with two horses this Saturday. A trip full of high expectations. Their first starter is the winning machine 5 Jackpot Mearas (V75-2). The six-year-old gelding has seven wins in eleven lifetime starts and he seems to just get better and better. When he, last time out, made his first start in a short-distance race, he crushed his opponents after a strong three-wide swooping move.
"He comes off a very strong effort in V86 at Axevalla, where he was all alone when he crossed the finish line. All is well after his start," says Maria on the Törnqvist stable website.
This week, the gelding starts in Class 1 over 2,140 meters, which is the distance that Jackpot Meras has most of his wins on. According to the statistics, he drew the best post position—post five behind the gate.
"The horse drew a perfect post in the middle of the track and can, as most know by now, leave pretty fast. It looks good on paper, but I have respect for the "neighbor," Mr Shyguy, who drew inside us and also can leave well. That horse has been impressive this winter, but so has Jackpot Mearas, so of course, I'm optimistic."

"I have to believe in my horse"
Already in the next race, Törnqvist starts 2 Ture L.A. (V75-3). Just like his stablemate, he too comes off an impressive, hard-closing win, where he was out four wide in the last turn before speeding away from his opponents down the stretch.
"He won in a very pleasing way where he showed that he could also win from behind. Usually, he leaves fast and is very efficient in the lead, which he showed in his first start for us in the fall when he won Ullbergs Minne at Axevalla against good horses.
The fact that Ture L.A. has not raced in some time does not worry the trainer.
"It has been five weeks since his most recent start, but all is well with the horse. It was the same amount of time before that win at Halmstad," says Maria.
Just as in Halmstad, this is also a Silver division leg, the distance 2,140 meters is also the same. The post position, post two behind the gate, is better than he had last time when he started from post seven.
"The post position is excellent, and so is the distance. I have to believe in my horse."
