Christoffer Eriksson’s stable is operating at full capacity.
On Wednesday, he sends out a trio to V86® at Lindesberg, including an exciting new acquisition.
"Freyr di Vanere defeated Free Time Jepson last fall," says the Åby trainer.
V86® continues its summer tour of the smaller racetracks around Sweden. On Wednesday the popular wagering form stops at the scenic track in Lindesberg, where picnic baskets usually crowd the grass around the oval.
The feature of the card is Bergslagsloppet with SEK 150,000 to the winner over 1,640 meters. Sweden Cup winner Double Deceiver and Castor the Star currently have the bettors’ confidence. Red hot trainer Christoffer Eriksson starts the very interesting new acquisition 2 Freyr di Vanere (V86-7), who has won 14 out of 40 starts. The horse now makes his first start for his new stable.
"It is definitely an interesting horse. He has raced well in Italy and last fall, he defeated a horse as good as Free Time Jepson, who won this year’s Lotteria, in 1:10 over the full distance. In the long term I think he will become a horse that grows into this class without any major problems," says Christoffer Eriksson.
How has the horse trained since coming to you?
"He trains well, but I haven’t sharpened him with any faster workouts and he has stayed at home. Now I think he is ready to race, although he will need a start in his legs and simply get going."
How should the bettors handle him?
"I think he will race well, but it’s difficult to assess his chances, he faces some really good rivals with proven top form. I knew he would get a good post and he is quick from the start and should reasonably get a good trip, either way it will be exciting. He will race barefoot all around, with an open bridle and a Finntack bike."
Both have winning chances
Christoffer Eriksson starts two more horses, both with form curves pointing upward.
"4 Mr Carnation (V86-1) was very good in his most recent start over three laps. He faced hard pressure in the middle stages of the race and still won easily with plenty left and was waiting for the signal to go even faster, it looked very good."
He used to be prone to breaking stride, can you call him stable now?
"I think so, although you can never be sure. That he is more stable nowadays probably has a lot to do with confidence, he has faith in himself."
How much do you like him here?
"Quite a lot. He just keeps getting smoother and smoother and starting behind the gate and long distance suit him perfectly. Considering how good he has been and is at the moment, I have to like him. I’m not making any changes."
The seven-year-old mare 3 Shallow (V86-6) delivered a good debut for the stable most recent.
"She was good, even a little better than expected. She had only been here for four weeks and trained normally without being sharpened specifically. She was explosive from the start and took the lead and the first lap was raced in 1:10 and there’s nothing to say about her getting a little tired."
"The race did her good and she feels good afterwards and should normally move forward from that start. It is an interesting horse, both for this race and for the future. The post is good and I expect a good performance and am not planning any changes."
