V86: Tekno Jerven ready for comeback - "Feels eager to race"

Tekno Jerven is ready to make his comeback, which will take place in V86 at Bergsåker.
The highly capable and lightning-fast closer has not raced for more than nine months due to a suspensory ligament injury.
"He is very well trained and feels eager to race. It is great to have him back," says Jimmy Jonsson about the two-time millionaire owned by his father, Alf Jonsson.

Bergsåker and Solvalla share Wednesday’s V86 Xpress card. On his home track at Bergsåker, the winning machine, Tekno Jerven, returns after a long layoff from competition. The ten-year-old stallion has not started since he won in early April last year, when he toyed with horses such as Oppgårdsdrängen and Alm Kevin. The coldblood has won 19 races from 76 starts and finished in the top three on 44 occasions. Last year, he made only six starts and earned just over SEK 2.6 million. The goal last season was the Elitkampen, after finishing second in the Nordic Championships at Åby in September 2024.
"6 Tekno Jerven (V86-3) picked up a suspensory ligament injury and had to rest for a long time. He spent six months with Fredrik Fransson and was involved in some breeding activity at the same time. Since then, he has been training and has plenty of fast work under his belt. At best, he has trained in 1:27 in a track workout at Bergsåker, and that has done him good. He feels fresh, sound, and eager to race, but he is still a bit heavy. So I would think he needs a couple of starts in his legs before he is at his best," says Jimmy Jonsson.

"I have a feeling he will deliver a good performance"
Tekno Jerven makes his comeback in a suitable race with eight starters on home soil and has post position six behind the gate. Even though he faces horses he has previously beaten convincingly, the connections are keeping expectations modest when it comes to his winning chances. At the same time, Jimmy Jonsson says you can never completely rule out a horse of this calibre.
"He is a very good sprinter, so on sheer ability, he is not completely out of it. Even though he is stronger than fast, he can really move at the finish. But he will be driven conservatively, get a nice trip, and be allowed to close. It will normally be difficult to win straight away, but you never know with a horse like this.
"I at least have a good feeling that he will deliver a good performance, and then we will see how far it takes us. I have entered him with an American sulky, but I will change that to a regular style sulky. We will save that gear change until the horse is properly tuned and in form, when it will have a better effect. He has won with corks before, but it is not his best balance. We will race with an open bridle as usual," says Jimmy Jonsson.
